Wausau School District

Mrs. Helke

Hello!  My name is Mrs. Carrie Helke.  I teach at Thomas Jefferson Elementary and have taught here since 2008.  During my time here I have taught Science, Reading Recovery and 3rd grade.  I started teaching 2nd grade for the 15-16 school year and I love the excitement and determination my students bring to the classroom.

I grew up in Watertown, Wisconsin - a farming community in southeastern Wisconsin. For most of my childhood I lived on a dairy farm and enjoyed spending my days outside. I graduated from Watertown High School in 2000 and moved to Green Bay where I attended UW-Green Bay for four years.  I graduated in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in History.  While at UWGB, I met my husband Casey and we moved to his hometown of Wausau after graduation.  After moving to Wausau I worked for the Wausau School District in a variety of ways - substitute teaching, tutoring and then in 2008 becoming a Science and Reading Recovery teacher.

The best way to contact me is via email.  I am usually able to answer emails within the day.  If you would like to call instead, please call before 8:30 in the morning or after school at 3:35.  The Jefferson phone number is 715-261-0175.  I look forward to hearing from you!
