Ms. Duesselmann

Hi!  My name is Heather Duesselmann.  I am your child’s science teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.  I am very excited for all that we will be learning and exploring together this year in grades K-5.  I will be teaching an enrichment science lesson each week to kindergarteners and the FOSS science curriculum to grades 1-5.
This is the start of my 15th
year in the Wausau School District.  I have been a WSD elementary science teacher since the beginning of the program 12 years ago.  During my time in Wausau, I have also taught kindergarten reading, Reading Recovery, and 3rd grade.  Prior to coming to Wausau, I taught in the DCE district for 8 years.  I was an ESL teacher, GT magnet-program intermediate teacher, and a Reading Recovery teacher.  I received my Master of Arts in Education degree in 2000, and then was trained in GT, Reading Recovery, and leadership.  My diverse teaching background and education enable me to better meet your child’s needs.
When I’m not at school, I’m the busy mom of Isabella, 18, and William, 8. They both attened the Wausau School District students. William is a second grader at South Mountain. Isabella is a first year college student at Concordia University, St. Paul. My husband, Tom Burke, and I just celebrated our 23rd
wedding anniversary. During most of our married life, we have made our home in Rib Mountain, where we love to play in our pool, garden, bike, hike, and snowshoe in the winter.
I love science and hope that your children use their classroom experiences to become excited about exploring the world around them!  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at either Lincoln or Hawthorn Hills Elementaries.  You can also email me any time at [email protected]
