Wausau School District

Mrs. Jill Austin

I am an English and language arts teacher at Horace Mann Middle School on Team 6-2.  I have been on Team 6-2 for eleven years, and love it.  I taught science in seventh grade for one year, and that's my second favorite subject next to ELA. I have been teaching in the district for 18 years, and a teacher for 23 years.  Before I was hired in Wausau, I taught in the Monona Grove School District for one year, and in the Medford Area School District for four years. And I would have to say, I love my profession, and I am very passionate about it.  When I am not teaching ELA, I am working with and coaching my students in forensics.  I have been the forensics adviser for 15 years.  It is great fun!

I attended UW-Eau Claire for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a minor in English, and UW-LaCrosse for my master's degree in Professional Education.

My husband Chad is a retired mathematics teacher of 34 years, and is currently working at NTC in the facilities deptartment.  He is also a WIAA varsity official in volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball.  He has two sons, Zachary (38) an entreprenuer, and Blake (34) a civil engineer, and my son, Cody (30) a physician assistant (PA) at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.  We are very proud of our chidren's accomplishments.

Chad and I enjoy spending time on our pontoon during the summer time on Lake Wausau, bike rides, walking our dog, Frannie Girl, and going to Wisconsin Badger football games. Go Bucky!
