Wausau School District

Ms. Kathy Klement

Welcome and Hello!

My name is Ms. Kathy Klement.  (My last name rhymes with "cement".)  My students often just call me Ms. K.  I am starting my 32th year of teaching in the Wausau School District, and 14th year here teaching 5th grade at Stettin.  I previously have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at G. D. Jones School in Wausau. Before that,  I was a UW Extension 4-H and Youth Agent for Brown County.  I have also taught summer school, transition to middle school, at the Wausau School Forest.  I am excited and enthusiastic about teaching 5th grade here at Stettin.

I grew up in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.  I attended UW-Whitewater and received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education with minors in geography and psychology, and had an emphasis in vocal music.  I also attended Aurora University and received my master’s degree in the art of teaching.  Many years of schooling, and I continue to enjoy learning something new every day!

In my "away from school time" I spend much of my time working in my yard and on house maintenance.  Beautifying my yard is a never ending endeavor and keeps me very busy!  I grew up in the “country”, and the deer, chipmunks, rabbits, squirrels, hummingbirds, cardinals, chickadees, wild turkeys etc… that visit seem to really enjoy my efforts as well.

Other favorite activities include: coaching track, participating in the “Relay for Life”, planting flowers, spending time with my cherished and much loved (not spoiled) 14 1/2+ year old golden retriever recue dog- daughter...“Gracie”, performing and watching theatre productions, attending rummage sales and auctions, and just enjoying the Wisconsin short summer and fun things to do here in Wausau!  I do love to travel to new places when I get the chance!  I also do quite a bit of lap swimming in the summer, and take lots of “dog walks.’

Now that you know a little bit about me, I hope to share a wonderful year of learning with you and your child.  If you ever have questions or concerns, please write a note, stop in at school, or call me (261-0205).  My e-mail address is [email protected]   My hours at school are 7:45-3:45, but I am often there longer.  I hope together, we can make this a great year of learning for you child!
